Summary

Malmaison HDV engaged Application Management Solutions Ltd to update their distributed IT infrastructure which was deployed across more than 26 locations through centralisation of the application delivery architecture. With a difficult to maintain environment Malmaison HDV were keen to improve the IT offerings to front desk and back end staff across the remote sites with a more efficient and manageable infrastructure.

Through the use of Citrix XenDesktop, XenServer and other Citrix technologies, the organisation is now able to migrate entire remote sites to the latest software and application packages within 1 day.

About the Customer

Malmaison HDV operates as two distinctly different styles of hotel chains, whilst consistently delivering superior service to their customers. Whilst Malmaison dares to be different in the presentation of accommodation which is offered within its 12 hotels, HDV delivers the quintessential British style of luxury. The hotels offer both corporate business facilities and private accommodation and dining and are supported with around 2000 staff. With new hotels being created and great plans for expansion into new markets, Malmaison HDV is leading the way in such a competitive market.

The Challenge

With the growth and success being enjoyed within the Malmaison HDV group, a review was undertaken to revise the IT operational infrastructure to enable a more responsive IT environment to be created. In addition to meeting the challenge of being more pro-active and efficient, stringent compliancy regulations had to be met in the data and applications being delivered through to the staff.

The AMS Solution

Working with Citrix technologies, AMS introduced virtual desktop infrastructure that enabled Malmaison HDV to consolidate where appropriate the historically distributed architecture. In incorporating XenServer as a host environment alongside a previously installed VMware platform, AMS managed the centralisation of user data, applications and policy controls around access to key information.

Through the use of additional technologies like AppSense, AMS worked closely with Malmaison HDV to ensure new and stringent compliancy regulations were being met. Since the installation and configuration of the new environment, Malmaison HDV are able to deliver new application packages and services to their remote sites and even transform entire hotels to new platforms within 1 day.
